Les modèles sont très utiles car ils canalisent votre pensée créative sans la brimer afin que vous puissiez innover d’une manière totalement nouvelle. Il ne s’agit pas d’un brainstorming. Il s’agit d’un processus structuré visant à concentrer votre production créative.

Revenons à notre méthode d’innovation. La méthode consiste à créer d’abord une solution hypothétique, puis à imaginer un problème qu’elle résout. C’est exactement le contraire de la manière traditionnelle dont les gens inventent.
Habituellement, nous commençons par un problème, puis nous essayons d’inventer des solutions à ce problème. Ce n’est pas toujours efficace, car souvent nous ne connaissons pas tous les problèmes que les consommateurs rencontrent lorsqu’ils utilisent un produit ou un service.
Lorsque nous inversons le sens (SOLUTION -> PROBLEME), nous découvrons de nombreux nouveaux problèmes utiles qui méritent d’être résolus, et nous avons une solution innovante à y appliquer. C’est cool ! Et ça marche !
Suivez ces étapes :
- Sélectionnez un produit ou un service à innover.
- Créez une liste de ses composants.
- Appliquer un MODÈLE à chaque composant. Cela crée un PRODUIT VIRTUEL. Il est virtuel parce qu’il n’existe pas. Au début, cela ne devrait pas vous sembler logique. C’est bon… c’est comme ça que la méthode fonctionne.
- Prenez le PRODUIT VIRTUEL et pensez à toutes les façons dont il pourrait être utile. Quels sont les problèmes qu’il résout ? Quels sont les avantages qu’il offre ? Qui l’utiliserait ?
- Répétez le processus en utilisant un composant différent.
- Répétez tout le processus en utilisant un MODÈLE différent.
Voici les MODÈLES :
- SUBTRACTION : enlever un élément essentiel et ne garder que ce qui reste
- MULTIPLICATION : faire une copie d’un composant mais le modifier d’une manière ou d’une autre
- DIVISION : diviser un composant du produit et le remettre ailleurs, OU prendre le composant et le diviser physiquement
- UNIFICATION DES TÂCHES : attribuer une tâche supplémentaire à une composante existante – lui donner un nouveau travail en plus de son travail existant
